Best Thing We Ate This Weekend: Sausage and Lots of It

Of course Bernhard Mairinger has his own lederhosen
There were far less "sausagefest" jokes at Fig's first annual Sausage Fest this weekend, but there were a lot of really tasty sausages courtesy the chefs from Ray's & Stark Bar, Cooks County, Public Kitchen, BierBeisl, Haven Gastropub, and of course Fig. The links came in all flavors - merguez, chorizo, rabbit, sweetbreads, pork, dried beef. It's difficult to pick a favorite, they were all great, but we went back several times for Ray Garcia's chorizo torta, and couldn't stop eating the dried cured sausage from BierBeisl. Plus, we couldn't get enough of the very tall Austrian chef Bernhard Mairinger in his lederhosen.

In true Oktoberfest spirit, there was a ton of great beer, too, including some made by the Fig staff. And even if the polka band played the same five songs all night, it added just enough ambience. All in all, it was a perfect way to spend an afternoon sunset around the pool. Check out the slide show for some of the bites, and clear your schedule for next year!
