Becoming Michael Voltaggio: From Bad Boy to Wild Fennel Forager

Ink chef daddio Michael Voltaggio is featured on Becoming, an interview video series with actors, musicians, chefs and athletes on what it took to become what they are today. "I was a young punk kid that thought I knew something," Voltaggio says of his first apprenticeship. "And I realized I didn't know shit." Now, after going from bus boy and room service waiter, he's a Top Chef winner, president of a company, and a weekend wild fennel forager under the Hollywood sign.

Watch the video, which was directed by directed by David Gelb (who directed Jiro Dreams of Sushi), for thoughts on Volt's first jobs, family and just doing what he does to stand out from the pack: "People ask, 'Why do you have to do that?' The answer is 'why not.'"
