Anthony Bourdain Does Surprise Set at The Comedy Cellar
By Billy Lyons
Did you hear the one about the chef that walked into the comedy club? While foodies may never consider Comedy Cellar a culinary destination point, if Tony Bourdain keeps making guest appearances like he did on Wednesday night, the club might just have to change its two-item minimum into a seven-course meal.
Bourdain, better known for his knife than mic skills, dropped in for a set where he touched on such topics as the cultural significance of Cinnabon, whether Man v. Food's Adam Richman risks life and death just to win a t-shirt, and the exact day Guy Fieri realizes sunglasses go in front of his face. While it was clear the TV host has some practice to do before killing the crowd like the evening's fellow performers Artie Lange and Tom Papa, Tony held his own and made the mostly out-of-town crowd wish the club allowed flash photography. His Guts and Glory Tour kicks off in a week.
