Where to Celebrate the Feast of San Gennaro in LA

We don't need a Little Italy to celebrate one of the biggest Italian heritage events of the year, the Feast of San Gennaro. If you love Italian-American food, colorful parades, religious processions and the only time you're really allowed to do your bad Tony or Carmella Soprano impression, this is your place. The biggie is the Hollywood's Galbani Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla. Throughout the weekend you'll find pizza, sausages, cheese, pasta, meatballs, gelato, shaved ice and more, plus bocce, bingo, carnival rides and games, live entertainment, cooking demos and comedians. And the Meatballs of Comedy, for that matter. Sept. 28-30. Go here for the schedule and ticket info.

If you want something with less carnival and more arancini, every year chef Brandon Boudet celebrates The Feast with a feast of Italian-American specialties at both Dominick’s and Little Dom’s. Look for stigoli (grilled steak topped with smoked mozzarella), sausage and peppers, porchetta, crab fritters, rice balls, zeppole and gelato on special from Sept. 27-30 at the restaurants (dinner only).
