Prolong Summer
We won’t be screaming for ice cream for much longer, but while the taste of summer still lingers on our lips, we'll satisfy the urge with the final ice cream pop-up at David Burke's Primehouse this Friday. For $5, guests can have a scoop of bourbon pecan pie or apricot sacher cake (312-660-6000).

Cupcake Party
In honor of surviving their first year in Chicago, Magnolia Bakery is throwing a party with lots of cupcakes and everyone is invited. Bring the kiddies in on Saturday for cupcake decorating and return on Monday for $1 classic cupcakes from noon to 2 PM (312-346-7777).

Paella Pros
Master the art of this Spanish specialty at a cooking demo on Saturday at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reba. Chef Andrew Shedden will show guests how he makes shrimp and chorizo paella, house-cured BLTs, spinach-filled mushrooms with lemon sauce, and mocha ice cream with Miguel’s twice baked biscuits. Following the demo sit down for lunch with wine. The demo begins at 10 AM and costs $30 (773-935-5000).

Eat-Off
How much do we trust the foodie elite’s taste buds? On Monday they will be put to the test during the Big Palate Challenge at Sono Wood Fired Pizzeria. Seven contenders including Michael Gebert of GrubStreet, Anthony Todd of Chicagoist and Heather Sperling of Tasting Table will compete to identify 20 ingredients in 30 minutes. Wine, beer and appetizers will be served. Tickets cost $20 and benefit Share Our Strength (312-255-1122).
