Jars & Bottles
Because cups and plates are so last week, tonight at Bar Toma guests will drink out of bottles and eat out of jars. Learn how to made jarred items such as house-made giardiniera and goat cheese and Treviso marmalade while eating pizza and sipping cocktails. Tickets cost $40 (312-266-3110).
Free Food
For any Facebook fans, Twitter followers and weekend guests to the JW Marriot, there is free food on Friday. To celebrate the first day of fall, chef Kimberly Junior has prepared caramel dipped baby apples with sea salt and crushed house made toffee (312-660-8200).
Apple Fest
We may refuse to wear jackets until our arms get frostbite, but there is little denying that fall in upon us. Further proof is Saturday’s Apple Fest in Lincoln Square featuring apple pie, hot apple cider and maybe some apple pizza. 4700 block of N. Lincoln Avenue.
What’s Happening?!?
We’re not exactly sure “what’s happening,” but that is the name of Longman & Eagle’s second annual block party. What we do know is it starts at 4 PM on Sunday and chef Jared Wentworth will be serving venison sausage and his semi-famous wild boar sloppy Joe (773-276-7110).
