Test Kitchen Returns With Rocco DiSpirito, More Top Chefs

Remember back in 2010 when pop-ups were just getting off the ground? Test Kitchen took center stage when it debuted its temporary multi-chef concept, where top toques rolled through with their own menus for one-night stints. It all went down in the space that is now Sotto, which of course, is now a great Italian restaurant in its own right. Well, Test Kitchen makes a comeback with a special kickoff dinner with Rocco DiSpirito at Sotto (he cooks?), and then the full series moves to Bestia, the forthcoming Bill Chait-backed restaurant in Downtown's Arts District. What's on the menu?

For DiSpirito's October 1 dinner, he teams up with Neal Fraser and Quinn Hatfield (the three worked together at Union Pacific years ago) to cook healthy Italian dishes featured in his new cookbook, Now Eat This! Italian, things like tuna crudo, meatballs, kale chips, lasagna bolognese, black cod puttanesca, cheesecake and strawberry ice. The prix fixe menu is $65 per person, with a $30 optional wine pairings. Each table gets a copy of the book gratis, too. For reservations email events@sottorestaurant.com.

After that, Test Kitchen moves to Bestia where exec chef Ori Menashe will host upcoming dinners from October 16 through November 11. Guest chefs on deck include Gino Angelini, Jason Travi, Micah Wexler (Mezze), Nancy Silverton, Walter Manzke (Republique), Keven Meehan (Kali Dining), Jeremy Fox (Venice Barnyard), and Baja chefs Benito Molina, Pablo Salas, Jair Tellez and Javiar Plescencia, among others.
