The fact that sausages are, er, big right now is not lost on Ray Garcia, and he wants to celebrate it. The Fig chef will host the first annual Sausage Fest at the Santa Monica restaurant on October 7, a night of links, beer and the inevitable joke or two about throwing a sausage party. He's invited a few chef buddies to bring their best house-made brats to the grill, including Vartan Abgaryan (Public Kitchen), Greg Daniels (Haven Gastropub), Daniel Mattern (Cooks County), Bernhard Mairinger (BierBeisl) and Kris Morningstar (Ray's & Stark Bar). There will be some sides and other snacks, plus beers from Smog City, Hopf Wheat and Noble Ale Works. And maybe a few other surprises. Tickets are $69 and will probably sell out fast - Fig isn't a huge restaurant. Oktoberfest is starting to look really delicious.
