Downtown's newest, Le Ka, is an interesting concept. It's billed as an American bistro with chef Remi Lauvand behind the stoves, and the owner hails from Wokcano among other brands. Set in a former bank at 6th and Flower, it's pretty dang spacious with soaring ceilings and sleek decor. The wine list is just as enormous, with bottles going up to $800. Economy, be damned!
French-born Lauvand, who was most recently at Cafe Pierre in the South Bay, is the reason the menu is so French-leaning. But it does have a little bit of everything from everywhere - local halibut crudo to onion soup, wild boar meatballs, rabbit terrine and sweetbreads with wild mushrooms. There's even pizza. And "hand-crafted" cocktails. And craft beer. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily, with a decent happy hour in place, too. [via Rundown]
