New Patio, Menu Unveiled at Brite Spot

Are changes good for an old neighborhood haunt? Brite Spot owner Dana Hollister (Cliff's Edge, Villains Tavern, One Eyed Gypsy) is betting yes. The Echo Park diner - one of our favorites in LA, which also happens to have great banana cream pie - has unveiled a few changes over the last couple of weeks. A new patio debuted last night, taking up some of the more awkward parking spaces in front of the diner, walled in with concrete planters and tall hedges. There isn't enough sunny sidewalk seating in this neighborhood, so this should be a welcome change.

A few subtle upgrades inside include getting rid of the drop ceiling to expose natural wood beams, and adding some new old-looking light fixtures to brighten (brite-n?) the small dining room and counter. New menu items have also been introduced, including a pulled pork sandwich and a short rib burger made with meat from the famed Rocker Brothers. Everything is now made in-house, including those addictive desserts, and there are more specials to come. How will the hipsters, or more importantly, those regulars who were here before the hipsters, take to it?
