Murray Hill Stalwart Josie’s Closes

Ten years ago Mike Bloomberg was closing in on his first year as mayor of NYC, Friends and Sex and the City were headed toward their twilight years and Josie’s, with its Eclectic menu featuring dishes like ginger grilled calamari, veggie meatloaf and macadamia crusted chicken salad, was the talk of Murray Hill.

Though its hotspot status (relatively speaking) settled over the years, it still remained a fairly popular pick with a certain neighborhood contingent (right girlfriend?) and was a reliable brunch standby. But we got worried when the attached Better Burger shuttered for “renovations” and a recent walk-by confirmed our worst fears: Josie’s was no more. At least the Josie’s West lives on…
