Litquake Announces Its Food-Obsessed Lineup

Daniel Patterson of Coi
The annual Litquake Festival is coming up next month (October 5-13), but in addition to its usual pointy head collection of author panels, book readings and closing night bar crawl in the Mission, this year the organizers are letting their food flag fly with a series of culinary events scheduled for the final Friday and Saturday. Highlights will include Novel Endings, a dessert-and-after-dinner drink pairing with Jake Godby and Sean Vahey (Humphry Slocombe), chocolate maestro Alice Medrich and sommelier Evan Goldstein ($20 person, Friday) and free events such as Chew on This, a panel led by CHOW’s John Birdsall that takes a fresh look at our obsession with food (Saturday afternoon).

Additional food-related powows include a book reading from an anthology about how cassoulet saved a marriage (Saturday evening), a kid-friendly event at Bi-Rite Creamery (Saturday afternoon) and Out of the Kitchen and On the Road, a panel discussion moderated by Tablehopper’s Marcia Gagliardi at Craftsman & Wolves with local food celebs Daniel Patterson (Coi), Ritchie Nakano of Hapa Ramen, Eddie Lau (Dux) and Samin Nosrat talking about their adventures of dining while traveling (free, Saturday evening). For the complete Litquake lin-up (foodie and otherwise), plus event and ticket details, check out the website.
