Katherine Anne Confections Goes Brick and Mortar

This gourmet chocolatier’s storefront is a destination for anyone with a sweet tooth. The new shop takes the flavor of the season to a whole new level. For example, who doesn't love Seedling’s apple cider, and scour farmers markets beginning in early September to score an early batch?

OK, maybe we're the only ones who do that, but apparently Katherine Anne Confections does too because it turned the cider into caramels. Also sitting on the overflowing wood counter of sweet goodness are "Badass Bourbon Bacon" truffles (a collaboration with City Provisions' Cleetus Firedman), goat cheese and walnut truffles, Earl Grey tea marshmallows, and merlot caramels.

We recommend escaping from the cold to pop a few treats while sipping on salted caramel or hazelnut hot chocolate served on vintage china. If chocolate is not your thing we are judging you suggest savoring one of the pastries from Beurrage.

Get inspired by the chandeliers or the sugar rush and let the chocolate mavens share their secrets during a truffle making party on Oct. 11. $50 per person gets guests a hands-on tutorial in melting, rolling, scoping, chilling and designing custom truffles. Don’t get too dirty because there is wine to sip and appetizers to munch on during the class.
