Flatiron Room, a new bar that is set to further booze-ify the area around Madison Square Park when it opens tonight. The swanky watering hole is running with an aristocratic vibe - think 100-year-old floorboards and vintage wall paper, and the bar program will focus on classic cocktails and an impressive range of over 400 whiskeys. Shareable bites will be served on wooden boards and live jazz and other performances are promised for down the road. Drop by at 37 West 26th Street.
Also from the liquid world, subterranean drink den Jacques 1534 is launching a revamp of their cocktail list next week, and the will mark the occasion with an awesome new deal. Every night, the bar will serve select beers and specialty cocktails in a two-for-one promotion. That deal will last from 5 to 9 PM, and there will also be a bartender's choice punch that costs $5 until the bowl runs dry.
Correction: We got word from the bar's owners - the official opening of the Flatiron Room is tomorrow, September 20.
