On October 4, the focus will be on Japan at Gohan Society's Aki Matsuri celebration. Brooklyn Brewery will play host to 11 restaurants (Gramercy Tavern, Red Rooster Harlem, Takahachi among them) offering bites featuring Japanese ingredients. As guests eat and drink Brooklyn Brewery beers and Yamazaki whisky cocktails, taiko group Soh Daiko will be performing and special guest Masaharu Morimoto will be holding a sushi demonstration. There will also be a silent auction and raffle, with a portion of the proceeds going to Japanese American Association’s Japan Relief Fund (6:30-9:30 PM; $125; get tickets here).
