Eat This, Drink This, Do This: LA's Weekend Planner

Ole!
Eat This
El Cid, the iconic Silver Lake hillside restaurant known for its eclectic live music lineup and Flamenco shows, launches a new brunch menu this Sunday (Sept. 30). Courtesy chef BJ Munoz (Ammo), there are now dishes like baked French toast, chorizo and potato hash, and a Serrano jamon breakfast sandwich. The bellinis are made with Laura Ann's Jams - rocker-turned-jammer Laura Ann Masura just happens to be El Cid's GM (maybe you can get some jamming tips, too). Inside, brunch comes with a Flamenco show -  $25 per person, with $10 going toward food and drink - or go a la carte on the patio (4212 W. Sunset Blvd.; 323-668-0318).

Drink This
LA Beer Week comes to an end on Sunday but not quietly. The big blowout LA Beer Fest takes place at Union Station with more than 70 local, regional, national and international craft brews there for the sipping. Grab something to eat at one of the myriad food trucks, or just jump off the Metro (because you should take the train) to grab something delicious at one of the stops. Tickets are $50 per person and includes unlimited samples and a commemorative glass. Noon to 4 PM.

Do This
Check out the Culinary Pavilion at the West Hollywood Book Fair on Sunday. There are cooking demos by Rocco DiSpirito, Ludovic Lefebvre, and Jack Witherspoon, "a 12-year-old three-time leukemia survivor, philanthropist, cookbook author and chef." (We want to meet that kid!). Plus chats with Black Market's Antonia Lafaso, wine guru Caitlan Stansbury, and documentarians James Colcuhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch (Food Matters).
