Go back in time at The Perkin Reveller - a new Medieval-inspired restaurant and bar which opens on Monday next to The Tower of London.
The all-day restaurant will serve seasonal British fayre on long banquet tables as well as at the bar. From breakfast (English muffins, devilled kidneys) to lunch, dinner (smoked eel fishcakes, potted shrimp) and afternoon tea, ingredients will be sourced from small, local suppliers like Cotswold white chickens from The Woodland Trust, Colchester oysters and butter from small creameries such as Longman Dairy in Yeovil. And the decor will be equally British thanks to bespoke furnishings made by local craftsmen including the hand-painted cups, mugs and tableware.
At this point it sounds to us like a bit of a tourist trap but the fact that it is opening just as the last tourists go home after the Paralympic Games makes us think it will be something more. If you make it down there before us, let us know what you think?
