Coming Soon: The Old Bengal Warehouse

At one time all you could find in the City were sandwich shops and bars filled with suits. But thanks to an influx of new restaurants in the area like Sushisamba, Angler, 3 South Place and soon-to-open Chrysan, the Square Mile seems set to become London's latest foodie destination.

Another one to add to the list is The Old Bengal Warehouse. Opening later this month in a massive 10,000 square foot space in the City, it is the latest venture from D&D restaurants and will house a grill, fish restaurant, cocktail bar, wine shop and outside terrace areas.

The warehouse - the oldest surviving one belonging to the East India Company - was once used to store spices, cigars, tea and port.  Now you will find New Street Grill - a modern British grill serving steaks, meat and fish dishes with an international wine list and The Fish Market - a more casual spot - open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a seafood bar and 'Fish of the Day' option as well as an English wine list.

There will also be a cocktail bar run by ex Claridges bar manger Milos Popovic and wine shop with space for tastings and dinners. And for the final touch of East London cool, nearby Hoxton Art Gallery has been commissioned to produce large scale works of art for the space based on 18th century portraits of East India Company officers.
