Chicago's 15 Hottest New Restaurants of 2012

Keeping up with the restaurant scene sometimes makes us feel like we are back in high school, chasing after chefs like they are the jocks of the food industry. It’s a difficult order when so many players are on the field, which is why we are back with an updated list of the hottest new restaurants of 2012. Some have stayed in the spotlight since earlier this year, while others have fallen into the shadows, cast aside by up-and-coming MVPs.

It's been a busy year, with big names such as Stephanie Izard and Curtis Duffy making us wait until December before opening the doors of their new spots. Some, including the chefs behind Fat Rice, earn an honorable mention for stellar food that avoided the spotlight. While others, such as Baume & Brix, had star-studded openings with a slew of successful chefs in the kitchen but need more time to work out some kinks. Click through the slide show below to see which new eateries have defined the culinary scene this year, and let us know which you've liked in the comments.

Bonus: Be sure to check out the Windy City's 10 hottest new bars here.

  3. Erwin was such a horrible restaurant, it is about time it closes. Too much pork and dark meat chicken...never anything on the menu we liked. Was such a shame when Bastille closed. Now that was a wonderful restaurant. Wish Erwin and his wife well. Another business would fit them fine.

  7. Tavernita was lacking flavor ... what a shame! Spanish food without much soul and too high of a price tag. Ambiance of the restaurant is quite beautiful, though ... so go hang out, get a drink, skip the food!

  8. Hi. Even smoother would be if, as a translator, you wouldn't have to deal with file downloads at all. What if the files changed while you are translating? german translation services.
