Cheers to Amazing Beer: Goose Island Releases Bourbon County Stout

It truly is a thing of beauty, excuse us while we weep and go hunt for a bottle.
Cue the tipsy stampede of beer nerds around Chicago. Goose Island announced this morning via the Chicago Tribune, that Bourbon County Stout will be released today.

For anyone unfamiliar with the rare and exceptional brew, it was the first to be aged in whiskey barrels. The result is a label with a rich malty flavor and a bright and boozy finish. It contains the flavors of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke and the brewers contest that “one sip has more flavor than your average case of beer,” according to Goose Island’s website.

Where can this rare nectar be found? Mark Mahoney, the brewery’s communications director, told Tribune to look for it at “your favorite craft beer joint.” So that limits locations down to, oh, about a hundred bars in the greater Chicago area. However, before mass hysteria ensues, take a breath: after Anheuser-Busch’s acquisition of Goose Island last year, they were able to produce five times more BCS this year.

Best advice we can give - pick up a phone and call your local bar or beer distributor and ask if they are carrying Bourbon County Stout. If the answer is yes, run do not walk, and get some before it’s gone.
