Brooklyn has a new ramen shop with last night's debut of Ganso, a slurp shop from cookbook author Harris Salat and Chef Rio Irie that opened last night on Bond Street. The Downtown Brooklyn eatery serves variations of the signature dish including one spiked with short rib and version for vegetarians that's infused with sesame and chili. Those looking to supplement their noodles can order dishes like pork and garlic pot-stickers and Japanese-style fried chicken.
The small shop has an L-shaped counter where guests can dig in and watch the action in the kitchen, and the room is decorated with raw cedar and stone. Ramen seems to be the dish du jour in Brooklyn with this and recent opening Dasara. Ganso is now open for dinner, drop by at 25 Bond Street to see which is the best new joint in the borough (718-403-0900).
