Award Season Drinking: Emmy Cocktails at the Avalon Hotel

Every year someone somewhere comes up with food and drinks specials for awards season in LA...and so it begins. Since the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards are this weekend, you can now sip some nominee-themed, Moonshine-based cocktails at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Because where else do you expect to drink moonshine?

Among the contenders, there's the Boardwalk Empire Salty Dog (with grapefruit juice), Homeland Lemonade (with lemonade, peach puree and cranberry juice), the Game of Thrones Bloody Stark (Bloody Mary), and Mad Men White Manhattan (with white vermouth, Cointreau and bitters). For Breaking Bad? The Blue Crystal - moonshine, rum, pineapple juice, sprite, blue curacao and a sugar rim. Nothing like an overly sweet drink to simulate meth mouth, we guess. The drinks are available now through Sunday's broadcast at the pool and cabanas, and in the bar and dining room at Oliverio (9400 W. Olympic Blvd.; 310-277-5221).
