Vegetarian fast food is all the rage lately – McDonald’s just opened its first all-vegetarian restaurant in India (McAloo Tikki, anyone?) and Subway recently began testing three new vegan sandwiches with soy meats in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia stores. While we wait for the arrival of the McSpicy Paneer and Sweet Riblet seitan sandwich in NYC, here are five other awesome veg-friendly dishes you can find at your neighborhood fast food joint. (Meat lovers will dig ’em, too!)

ReplyDeleteVegetarian is a necessary option for many people. How much of the population is trying to avoid heart surgery? How many are diabetic and need to avoid fat? These first offerings are a step in the right direction. Another subject for thought is the large number of people who are allergic to soy. If there are NO soy-free offerings, a large part of the vegetarian population is left out of the menu and the restaurants are missing out on income from those folks. Just one soy-free choice on the menu would certainly help.
