LAFW behind us and The Taste just around the corner, there is one more food event for late summer not to miss. LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade returns for its third year on Septebmer 29, bringing a carefully curated (read: invited by Suzanne Goin, David Lentz and Caroline Styne) chefs and wineries from around the country. It’s one of the most delicious food events of the year, set on the front lawn at Culver Studios, which makes it feel like an intimate garden party. Just one with amazing food and an incredibly moving message.
This year’s roster of chefs includes Giada De Laurentiis, Paul Kahan (Publican, Avec), April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig), Chris Bianco (Biancao Pizzeria), Marc Vetri (Vetri), Matt Accarino (SPQR), Michael Voltaggio and more. The cocktail culture will be well represented with quaffs from The Hungry Cat, Soho House and The Varnish. The wines are always fantastic. The live auction is incredible, especially when generous (and very rich) souls dole out thousands and thousands of dollars for one-of-a-kind private dinners with many of the chefs represented.
Last year was a wet sloppy mess after a pounding rain, and yet it still raised more than $400,000 for a great cause: All proceeds go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which helps find better treatments and cures for kids with cancer. Tickets are $175 and worth every penny; $250 for event and after-party, which was at The Hungry Cat in Santa Monica last year (again, totally worth it).
