Weekend Wine Dinners and Dancing to Get You Out and About

Setting for Apple Street Farm's Festival of Tomatoes
No weekend plans? No problem. Check out these three events.

On Saturday, August 25, Apple Street Farm’s Festival of Tomatoes continues (it’s happening today, too!) when Frank McClelland (L’Espalier) creates a four-course menu featuring the summertime fruit. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and moves into dinner under the stars (and a tent) at the bucolic Essex location (5:30 PM; $175 per peson, includes wine, tax and gratuity; 617-262-3023).

On Sunday, August 26, check out DBar’s Summertime Tea Dance, when folks gather for cocktails, snacks and dancing - and get to bid on auction items at the Dorchester restaurant. Apparently there’s no “tea” involved (Long Island Iced Tea, anyone?), but the event is aimed to offer a fun afternoon while giving back. Proceeds from the $10 donation at the door goes to the Living Center, which helps those in the community living with HIV/AIDS (4-8 PM; $10 admission and cash bar; 617-265-4490).

Also on Sunday, wine and dine at Lucky’s Lounge in the Seaport District for the J. Lohr wine dinner, featuring selections from the west coast winery paired with five courses - including braised short ribs, and seared scallops with grilled watermelon - created by chef Luke Beardslee (6 PM; $60 per person; 617-357-5825).
