Taste of the Gold Coast
By the end of the summer we’ve tasted almost every neighborhood in Chicago, and they taste good – Pilsen was a bit spicy for our palate. Taste of the Gold Coast tastes different – it’s fancy in the Sofitel. Doors open tonight at 6 PM for those who have a $120 ticket purchased in advance or a $150 ticket at the door.

Rum Day
Happy national rum day! We are a little upset it doesn’t coincide with national talk like a pirate day, but this special cocktail at Bridge Bar will ease our disappointment. For $7 sip on the Draft Dodger made with light and dark rums, fresh lemon juice, house simple syrup, agave nectar, black stripe bitters, Jamaican bitters and Peychaud bitters (312-822-0100).

Grill with Friends
Publican Quality Meats has proved that they have good friends during their weekly grilling series. Sunday, Jason Hammel of Lula CafĂ© stops by at 3 PM to cook Rainbow trout stuffed with lemon grass, pancetta and basil with smoked sungold tomatoes (312-445-8977).

Lobster Week
Beat the end of summer blues with an entire week devoted to lobster. Beginning on Monday at Stout Barrel House & Gallery, chef Chris Curren will offer a special lobster dish each night along with $3 New England Beer Specials. The week kicks off with lobster rolls and will continue with lobster bake, lobster pizza and lobster pot pie (312-475-1390).
