Tucked between the flashy headlines of restaurants opening and new cider presses, are the stories that like do go unnoticed. They scroll past in Twitter feeds and sit on unopened Facebook pages and pop-up on Google+ Pages. We know you have better things to do that stalk chefs’ tweets, so we did it for you.
On Wednesday, former chef de cuisine at Avec made her departure official by announcing it on Twitter.
@KorenGrievson Thank you for all the support. I'm sad to be leaving avec. They are my family. Love you my Chicago family.
On Sunday, Steve Dolinsky posted a photo to Instagram of the bottom of his check from Central Kitchen in San Francisco. The note on the bottom of the check read, “We are proud to offer our staff full dental coverage. A charge of $2.50 per guest makes this possible. Thank you!” The photo sparked a debate among fellow food media and chefs about the lack of heath care in the restaurant industry.
@SteveDolinsky 1st time I've ever seen this note on a bill…Very cool. Bravo, @CentralKitchen

Exuberant chef Brandon Baltzley, known for his dramatic departure from Tribute to return to rehab over a year ago, may be seeking a return to the Chicago food scene – at least for a night. Last night he tweeted this:
@Brandon Baltzley Thinking about a Chicago pop-up... Any chefs up for the gamble?
Not sure if any chefs responded, but that's one gamble we're certainly up for.
