In our humble opinion, one of the most consistently solid restaurants in Williamsburg, if not the entire city, is the swine-centric small-plates eatery Traif. Their seasonally-inspired menu is essentially "foodie soul food," for lack of a better explanation. Items like braised short rib sliders, ramp toast and schmancy queso fundido have effortlessly worked their way into the hearts and bellies of the mostly hipster clientele who are equally stoked about the low prices and overall value. One of our all-time favorites (and a must-order if you plan to go) are the bacon doughnuts with dulce de leche glaze and coffee ice cream. If you haven't been able to embrace the bacon + dessert trend, give this dish a whirl. The salty, smoky bits of bacon foil the sweetness of the doughnut without casting too heavy of a savory overtone to the dish. Traif is located at 229 S. 4th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
