The Best Thing We Ate For Lunch: Pizza at Colicchio & Sons

Some diners turn up their noses at Restaurant Week menus, complaining that city eateries use lower quality ingredients and focus on boring dishes so they can get good markups on the deal. Well, if you drop by Colicchio and Sons for lunch and order off the $24.07 fixed price menu, you will find absolutely nothing to complain about. The West Chelsea eatery offers a wide selection for lunch - guests could choose from five appetizers and seven entrees on our visit (we would have counted the dessert options, but we were still full). The portion size was normal, as far as we can tell, and the food - well, can they extend restaurant week to the end of the year, please?

The promotion (which is technically dubbed NYC Go Prix Fixe through September 3) is only available in the grill room - but that means you can pig out on pizza. our favorite dish had to be the suckling pig, mortadella, olives and caper pizza. Easily enough for two people, we convinced ourselves to gobble up every last bite. After all, a deal this good doesn't come along very often.
