Shocker: Chef Koren Grievson Leaves Avec

The news shook the food scene last night and left everyone with an odd craving for bacon-wrapped dates. Chef Koren Grievson, the chef de cuisine at Avec who has been working alongside executive chef Paul Kahan since 1998 when she started at Blackbird and then moved to Avec to facilitate the opening, has parted ways with the culinary juggernaut.

Eater received the official statement from One Off Hospitality confirming her departure, but not stating the reason for her slip or who will replace the chef.

“We are saddened to announce the departure of our longtime chef, partner and friend Koren Grieveson. Her contributions to Avec have been substantial and our pride and respect for what we have accomplished together has been inspiring. Koren will be moving on, leaving a great legacy in her team at Avec. As she embarks on the next chapter of her culinary journey, she remains a friend and partner in Avec. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” One Off Hospitality told Eater.
