| Don't call Graham Elliot's lobster corndog a one hit wonder. |
While music fans scour the schedule for the perfect combination of artists to take in during the three days of Lollapalooza, we are getting our stomachs warmed-up for some gourmet festival eats. They may be running from stage to stage, but you can find us pigging-out in Chow Town.
We have our ten picks for must-try dishes at Lollapalooza.
Grahamwich
Leave it to the culinary director of Chow Town to truly understand the meaning of the phrase “don’t mess with a good thing.” Graham Elliot returns with the Lolla favorite, lobster corndogs with truffle and Parmesan popcorn.
The Australian Truffle
The winner for rock-star dish goes to this vendor. Ask them to “make it rain” for the addition of fresh truffles to their grilled cheese with black forest ham and truffle Brie, corn on the cob with truffle butter, or "Crack and Cheese" with Australian truffles and elbow macaroni.
Chizakaya
This booth will serve Japanese pub fare in the form of Asian pork belly slider with BBQ sauce, pickles, cilantro, peanuts and fried garlic or Tako-Yaki - also known as octopus beignets with house teriyaki, pickled ginger, nori dust and bonito flakes.
Do-Rite Donuts
There is nothing worse than trying to fist pump with fingers covered in chocolate frosting. These doughnut makers are sticking to the classics, and less sticky, chocolate or cinnamon-sugar old fashioned.
Franks 'n' Dawgs
Take on the “Chicagoesque” dog with a ⅛ pound skinless beef frank, house pickles, cherry tomato relish, caramelized onions and beer mustard or the BLT dog bacon sausage, heirloom tomatoes, romaine lettuce and basil aioli. Not safe for vegetarians.
Goose Island Brewpub
Between the eight stages and 128 bands, concert-goers need some protein. Chow down on a fried chicken sandwich with bacon jam, cheddar, beer onions and slaw. Then, chase it with a grilled-cheese stuffed pretzel.
Kuma's Corner
The burger headliner of Chicago is offering not one, not two, but three meaty hits. "Hand of Doom" is a beef patty covered in blackening spice and served with pepperjack cheese and red onion on a pretzel roll. The "Electric Funeral" is served with jalapeno and corn salsa as well as paprika creme fraiche on pretzel roll. Finally, the "Iron Man" has cheddar cheese on pretzel roll.
Mercat a la Planxa
Simple dishes with bold flavors are a signature of Chef Jose Garces. His restaurant is serving steak sandwiches as well as ham and cheese potato chips.
Suzy Samosas at Ashyana Catering
The vegetarian options at this booth can’t be beat plus you can get dinner and dessert while only having to wait in one line. Veggie samosa are served with tamarind chutney or two mini apple pie samosa are served with a housemade caramel sauce.
La Colombe Coffee Bar and Roasters
Party the entire weekend away thanks to some liquid energy in the from of pure black cold pressed coffee. This iced beverage is available in Sweet Cocoa and Smokey Goodness flavors.
