White wines typically don’t get much love or respect in California (unless they’re the big fat oaky types), but Michael Mina’s SoMa wine bar RN74 hopes to change that with a special Riesling-oriented happy hour tomorrow. Part of a summer-long promotion called "The Summer of Riesling", the happy hour will offer 20 vintages of the great aromatic yet still dry whites of Germany and Austria sold at discounted rates to ensure lots of exploration.
In addition, the special happy hour will feature live music and complimentary pretzels with the purchase of a glas of Riesling. [UPDATE]: Additional German street food such as grilled sausages with choucroute, poppy-cherry strudel and poppy coffee cake will be sold separately The food-wine-music mashup is Thursday evening only, but RN74 will continue to offer ten Rieslings by the glass from now until September 21.
