Pop-Down? Newly Opened AK Supper Club Closed for Now

Via Yo! Venice
The upside of chefs doing pop-up restaurants: Low overhead, freedom to do what they want, the temporary nature allows them to be more creative. The downside: Issues with the restaurant that owns the space. There was a lot of buzz surrounding AK Supper Club, the pop-up that replaced Wolf in Sheep's Clothing at Capri on Abbot Kinney. Perhaps it was because Wolf was so successful, and because chef Kevin Kathman worked and staged everywhere from the French Laundry to Gordon Ramsay in London. But people were excited. It launched in July, but according to Yo! Venice, AK Supper Club is already closed, and not without drama. Kathman sends word: "We have been unable to get a contract for weeks from the Capri restaurant owner who’s space we work in. We hope to have this issue resolved soon, but for now we are taking a break." He'll send word via Facebook about the future of AK.
