The South Bay pizza chainlet
Fresh Brothers, known for deep-dish and thin-crust pies, opens its new Brentwood store today in the former Freshii space on San Vicenti. According to
Grub Street, the family-owned pizza joint has big expansion plans for the next few years, especially after a big cash infusion from the family behind the Sketchers brand (also based in Manhattan Beach). The Brentwood store is first, with one for Santa Monica coming soon. After that, it's SoCal and beyond, going from six to 100 locations across the land. Brentwood opens at 11 AM today, and, yes, there will be plenty of sampling (1174 San Vicente Blvd.; 310-826-0777).

Joe's Pizza, the New York-style pizza joint brought to LA by Giuseppe Vitale, son-in-law to the famed Joe of Joe's Pizza in NYC, plans to open a pizza truck this September for curbside slices, plus shops in the Sherman Oaks Westfield Fashion Square Mall (September) and the Westfield Century City Mall (October).
