Pig's Feet Under: LA's Food Truck of the Week

Masa Ose, an exec chef for McCormick & Schmick's, loves food trucks, but among the tacos, hot dogs, burgers, smothered fries and meatballs, he noticed a significant lack of pork. So Ose, a Miami native who's also lived in Japan and Hong Kong, partnered with chef Adriana Amexcua, who tired of the corporate cooking game, and the two launched Pig's Feet Under in June. It's been a pink piggy affair ever since.

The name is an obvious play on Six Feet Under, but we hope they don't mean these pork-centric dishes will put you in the ground. The menu is pretty straight-forward so far: Scallion pancakes wrapped around soy and guajillo-braised pork shoulder with shaved leeks, tomatoes, Bibb lettuce and hoisin black bean sauce, or pork belly with Greek tzatziki sauce and lemon-sumac vinaigrette; the PBLT, a pork belly BLT with grainy mustard sauce on an grilled English muffin; and fried grits with andouille sausage, pepper jack cheese and a curry-tomato chutney for dipping. Like many trucks before it, balls are super popular - mac-and-cheese balls stuffed with chorizo and Chinese lap cheong sausage. You can usually find the truck near LACMA or at The Brig on Abbot Kinney, and this weekend it rolls into Chinatown, as well as the North Hollywood Truck Fest.
