If you haven't "liked"
Vintage Los Angeles on Facebook yet, please do. The moderators always post photos of restaurants from bygone years, and readers follow up with memories of spots that only live on in our minds. Donn Beach, considered the father of the pu pu platter and tiki craze, opened his first Don the Beachcomber in 1934 on McCadden Place in Hollywood. It closed around the mid-1980s, and today an apartment complex stands there. Thank goodness we still have
Tiki Ti to remind how great fruity rum concoctions are. Do you have any favorite old-school restaurants from yesterday or today? Let us know in comments!
