The folks from
Forage found mouse melons from Coleman Family Farms at the Santa Monica Farmers Market yesterday. Look. At. Them! Also known as watermelon or Mexican sour gherkins, the thumbnail-sized, oblong-shaped fruit (vegetable?) looks like a mini watermelon, but it's actually a crunchy, crisp little thing that tastes more like cucumber and tart citrus. We're not sure how Forage is using them, but we want to see these on restaurant menus - pickled, fresh, anything - all over town. Give us a heads up in comments if you spot them somewhere.
