Philly Restaurant Operators Will Take Over Tavern on the Green Space

Today the NYC Parks and Recreation commissioner announced that the search for a new Tavern on the Green operator has ended! The storied space will be taken over by Jim Caiola and David Salama, which operate Beau Monde in Philadelphia and run the Emerald Green Group. They're bringing in chef Katy Sparks to re-launch TOTG - she's worked at restaurants ranging from Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill to Quilty's in SoHo.

The new menu will be locally sourced and focus on the park, while the space will include alfresco seating for up to 300 patrons. They are trying to lure in more than just tourists - take out service for locals is on the agenda as well. The build out for the more casual concept is going to take a while - expect the new and improved Central Park eatery to open in Fall of 2013.
