Party Report: 93XRT Radio's Lobster Rock at Red Door

Rather than buying a red sports car or finding a skinny new girlfriend, 93XRT approached their mid-life crisis in style - with lots of lobster. Partnered with their friends at Supreme Lobster and several of the best chefs in Chicago, they threw a birthday shindig on Tuesday night at Red Door.

When you have friends like Troy Graves grilling lobster sausages who needs cake? Each chef was stationed at a table on the stunning patio lit with strings of light bulbs. They prepared a single lobster dish for guests to enjoy with cocktails or sangria.

The party, which began promptly at 6:30 PM, was quickly overflowing with patrons devouring the dishes of Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate), Ryan Poli (Tavernita) and Paul Fehribach (Big Jones). Favorites included Jason Vincent’s (Nightwood) version of lobster stew made with bourbon and mushroom - it was inspired by a dish he “stole” from Fore Street in Portland Maine. It was served in a rich broth then topped with queso fresco and fresh herbs.

Other popular dishes were Dirk Flanigan’s (The Gage and Henri) chicken-fried lobster, poached lobster flash friend in chicken skin, as well as Mike Sheerin’s (Trenchermen) lobster pad thai and Mark Steuer’s (The Bedford) lobster hush puppies.

The party continued into the evening with raffles thats included a trip to the NY Food & Wine Festival, Grand Cru access to Chicago Gourmet and XRT Live from Studio X passes. No all of the guests left with prizes, but the did leave with a stomach full of lobster - the best party favor.
