| Heartland Cafe |
Farm to table is nothing new, but not a lot of farms actually own their own restaurants. Maybe that will become as trendy as locally-sourced produce now that Michigan's Earth First Farms has purchased
Heartland Cafe.
The Chicago Tribune has word that the 36-year-old eatery was recently acquired by the farmers - not totally surprising considering the fact that they've been serving super-fresh stuff long before local veggies were everywhere. The Tribune notes that Colin Baumaier has been installed as the new chef, and a completely new menu will be rolled out in the next few weeks. That's a good thing - even though this place has been open for a while the food score is only a 17 so there is a lot of room for improvement.
