Now Open: The New Nobu Malibu

In 1999, Nobu Matsuhisa opened Nobu, one of the biggest celebrity magnets in LA, at the Malibu Country Mart. When the restaurant closed, it left a giant void for miso black cod and Robert Downey Jr. sightings, at least near the beach (the West Hollywood location is still going strong). After two years of construction, behold the new Nobu Malibu, a new beachside hang where almost every seat has a view of the water.

There's an expansive outdoor patio and lounge, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a 14-seat bar. The menu is the same filled with Nobu classics like yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno, and a few new dishes by exec chef Gregorio Stephenson. Reservations are probably a good idea, and you can make them 30 days out, and the sushi bar and regular bar are good for walk-ins. We suspect the wait will be ridiculous, but between the crowd and the ocean, there's plenty to look at while you wait. And what of the original Country Mart location? According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Chow is moving in.
