Now Open: New Lucky Boy for Pasadena, Hollywood's 54Twenty

More breakfast burritos for Lucky Boy
Is there enough room for two Lucky Boys in Pasadena? We're sure to find out as a second location finally debuted on Walnut Street just east of Los Robles. Most people go for the burgers (even the turkey burger is good), but the breakfast burrito is a thing of legend here, a weighty beast stuffed with eggs, bacon, hash browns, cheese and more bacon. It's a much snazzier spot than the original Arroyo Parkway location, which has people lined up well into the wee hours (531 E. Walnut St.)

Grub Street has word that chef Kyle Shutte, formerly of Marina del Rey's Vu, has taken the opened modern-day diner 54Twenty in Hollywood. Shutte tried to make haute brunch things (think: pork belly, grits and root beer gelee) happen at the Jamaica Bay Inn restaurant, which didn't always pan out: Vu has since changed names (now Beachside) and concepts (now more accessible fare). At 54Twenty, which he dubs a "guestaurant ... a hybrid of restaurant and dinner party," he may be tempered a bit, although still serving modernized classics like a BLT with avocado mousse. At least it's with bacon and not the bacon foam. Check out the menu here (5420 Hollywood Blvd.; 323-464-1570).
