| The view of the riverside gardens at Copia, now tended to by local chefs. |
Remember those drool-worthy gardens at Copia? Well, long after that ambitious food-museum-culture center flamed out, the gorgeous and fertile beds have been transformed into the
Napa Chef's Coop Garden, a community garden offering plots to numerous local Napa Valley chefs. While most of the larder from these garden plots typically go straight to the chef’s own restaurants, this Sunday the public is invited to sit down at the table and share a true farm-to-table Sunday supper prepared collaboratively by some of the chefs and owners who now share the garden (
Ca’ Momi Enoteca,
Hog Island Oyster Bar,
Kitchen Door,
La Toque,
Oenotri, Zuzu and newcomer
The Thomas.) We think this inaugural dinner at what’s being called the
Harvest Table, a long community table set right along the Napa River on the former Copia grounds, is the beginning of a beautiful friendship and one you won’t want to miss.
Oh, and did we mention that the wine will be flowing as well? Apparently the custom-built picnic-style Harvest Table has a trough running through the middle so that it can be filled with ice to keep a fresh supply of wine bottles chilled. Tickets for the family-style dinner are $100 and include wine. Seating is limited to 60 so act quickly. For more info and to purchase tickets, go
here. Proceeds for the dinner will be used for the garden and to support forthcoming Sunday suppers.
Sunday Supper at the Harvest Table, August 26, 5-8:30 PM, 500 First St Garden, Napa
There is always something to do in this part of California! It amazes me how this does not come up often in conversation about vacations! I got myself, fiance, and some others together and rented one of the nicer vacation rentals Sonoma County has to offer and had a grand time hitting tasting after tasting!
