| Wine milkshakes? At The Counter now |
Sip an array of tequila cocktails paired with a four-course dinner at Loteria Grill Hollywood tonight. The Tequila Tasting Dinner starts with appetizers like mini tostadas, shrimp sopes and empanadas, followed by dishes like poblano soup, your choice of fancy steak, fish or chicken tacos, and dessert (tequila ice cream!). Starts at 6 PM and costs $75 per person (6627 Hollywood Blvd.; 323-465-2500).
Tuesday
Seeing peaches on every menu? It's the season, but it's also National Peach Month, as if that matters, but it does mean the stone fruit is showing up in everything from burrata salads (Mohawk Bend, Wood & Vine) to hand pies (MB Post), muffins (Magnolia Bakery) or stuffed with Italian cookies and served with gelato (Cecconi's). Or just hit the farmers market and stock up while you can.
Wednesday
Hit the Hump Day Lot in Santa Monica, an all-day collection of food trucks, live music and even booze (at Central). This lot had some issues when it tried to launch two years ago - the city closed it down as quickly as it started - but now it's all official, and even being dubbed a fully sanctioned "community" event. Find a collection of trucks from 10 AM to 3 PM, and again from 4 to 9 PM.
Thursday
Need a late-ish Fonut fix? Waylynn Lucas' bakeshop now stays open until 10 PM every night (except Tuesday). This is a good time to try the new Fonut ice cream sandwiches made with an ever-changing roster of flavors like olive oil, salted caramel, eucalyptus, mint and vegan coconut sorbet. Vegan fonuts, too (8104 W. 3rd St.; 323-592-3075).
Friday
The new way to end the work week could be with a milkshake happy hour: Add wine shakes to the list of boozy ice cream treats. The Counter now offers shakes spiked with wine, including one with pinot noir, cherries, and chocolate and vanilla ice cream; another made with sweet white wine, peaches and vanilla ice cream; and a mimosa-Creamsicle hybrid made with sparkling wine, orange juice and vanilla ice cream. Available at Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Century City, Toluca Lake, El Segundo and Hermosa Beach locations only.
Saturday
There are still tickets available for Downtown's annual LA Craft Beer Crawl hosted by the Beer Chicks and 213 Nightlife. Get an armbrand and stroll around Cedd Moses' bars like the Golden Gopher, Seven Grand and Cole's and sip more than 70 brews. There are a few extra seminars on scotch and beer happening, too. Tickets are $54, get them here.
Sunday
And if that wasn't enough beer for you, Haven Gastropub teams up with different local breweries for a monthly pig and brew fest. Today's kickoff is with Golden Road, and a ticket ($50) gets you pork, pork and more pork - charcuterie, suckling pig, etc. - and 10 tastes of beers, including special releases and cask ales. Noon to 4 PM (42 S. De Lacey Ave.; 626-768-9555).
