As the LA area boast one of the largest Chinese-American populations in America, especially in the San Gabriel Valley, it's not shocking that a list of best Chinese restaurants will stir debate. Whether it's Sichuan, Hunan, hand-cut noodles, Peking duck or
dim sum, we have no shortage of authentic Chinese restaurants from Alhambra to Chinatown, and everyone has a favorite. Here's what our survey readers chose as the top five - and no, Mr. Chow didn't make the list. Should it? Let us know your picks and pans in the comments!
One needs to clarify that Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant chain that offers their variation of the traditional Shanghai soup dumplings. The wrap they use for their soup dumplings are much thinner than than what is used in the traditional Shanghai version. In the San Gabriel Valley, my friends and I prefer the soup dumplings at J&J (Jin Jiang) Restaurant on Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteThese were voted by readers in our survey, and those are the reviews from our guidebooks. But I have been to J&J and the dumplings are fantastic!
DeleteWow, I'm surprised you chose the Newport Tan Can Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights vs. the busier and popular one on Las Tunas Dr. in San Gabriel!
ReplyDeleteUsed to be one in Garden Grove. MMMmmm Good!
