  1. One needs to clarify that Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant chain that offers their variation of the traditional Shanghai soup dumplings. The wrap they use for their soup dumplings are much thinner than than what is used in the traditional Shanghai version. In the San Gabriel Valley, my friends and I prefer the soup dumplings at J&J (Jin Jiang) Restaurant on Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel.

    1. These were voted by readers in our survey, and those are the reviews from our guidebooks. But I have been to J&J and the dumplings are fantastic!

  2. Wow, I'm surprised you chose the Newport Tan Can Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights vs. the busier and popular one on Las Tunas Dr. in San Gabriel!

  5. Popularity and busyness does not equate to higher quality in both service and in food.
