|Outside Lands and its manifold foodie offshoots hits SF this weekend.|
After much ado, the city’s hottest outdoor music and arts festival, Outside Lands (as well as Beer lands, Wine Lands, Outside Lambs, Choco Lands, A Taste of the Bay, etc) is poised to take over Golden Gate Park. Tickets are all sold out (you did get them, right?), so all you need to do is plot your strategy of which bands to see and which food and booze tents to hit. Get the full line-up here. And for goodness sake, bike or take the MUNI. Parking will be a nightmare. Runs Friday through Sunday.
Tired of the fog? Cross the bridge and head to the sixth annual San Rafael Food & Wine Festival for a day of regional wine, beer and food tasting, plus chef demos and live jazz. Admission to the venue is free but tickets that grant access to all the food and wine tastings cost $25 per person. The festival takes place on Saturday from 1-5 PM at the Falkirk Cultural Center, which is located at 1408 Mission Ave., San Rafael. Get info and tickets here.
The fastest way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach but research shows the even faster route is via a homemade pie. Let the gals from Three Babes Bakeshop teach you the ropes of classic fruit-based desserts such as crumbles, crisps and buckles at this afternoon “Beyond Pie” hands-on baking class that will be held this Sunday from 3-5 PM at FoodLab. Never be caught not knowing the difference between a grunt, a slump or a pandowdy again. FoodLab is at 1106 Market St, $65 per person; get more info and tickets here.
