Foodie Travel Guide: Traverse City and Leelanau Peninsula

What the Leelanau Peninsula lacks in size - just more than 20,000 people call it home - it makes up for in a plethora of wineries, farm-to-table eateries, and, oh yes, that iconic cherry pie. Traverse City is the “Cherry Capital of the World,” after all. If this burgeoning foodie destination is good enough for Mario Batali, who owns a home there, then it’s good enough for us. Just a five and a half hour drive from Chicago, it’s time to plan one last summer vacay with 10 can’t-miss picks for dining and playing in the mitten’s pinkie.
