| Farmstead Table in Newton Centre |
The restaurant opened quietly at the beginning of August. The place is airy and sparsely decorated with white walls, green chairs, reclaimed-wood tabletops, wild flowers and a sense of rustic charm. There’s a small bar to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. But the focus is on the New American cuisine by husband-and-wife team Chad and Sharon Burns (Chad is a Radius alum), who use fresh-today ingredients from local purveyors; there's a line-caught swordfish special tonight
Farmstead adds to the growing number of new restaurants in Newton Centre. B Street (796 Beacon St.) opened within the past few years, and Terry O’Reilly’s Irish Pub (45 Union St.) is slated to open on the same block as Farmstead any day now. Another restaurant - started by David Punch (Ten Tables) - is set to open in the old John Dewar space at 753 Beacon Street.
