Highland Park's charming Good Girl Dinette, where the American diner meets Vietnamese comfort food, turns into full-on a pie shop on Monday for all your pie-eating Labor Day needs. The 9-inch pies come in peach, red heart plum or Gala-rose apple and cost $25 a piece. The shop will be open from 9 AM to 2 PM or until pies run out. Order ahead by calling 323-257-8980 or via orders@goodgirldinette.com. Walk-ins are OK, too (110 N Avenue 56).

Beer geeks, take note - Maryland's Dogfish Head brewery takes over all 12 taps at West LA's Steingarten LA on Friday night. That means rarities like 120 Minute IPA and the potent World Wide Stout will be available, plus a few bottled brews. A Dogfish rep will be on hand to talk beery stuff, and there's a menu full of snacks like sliders, Korean nachos and pretzels so you can get through more than one beer without falling on your face (10543 W. Pico Blvd.; 310-441-0441).

The LA County Fair, now the largest county fair in the country, celebrates its 90th anniversary this weekend. You can find anything you want here: Deep-fried Oreos, things on sticks, bacon-wrapped everything, giant turkey legs, and rides (!). Fry-master Chicken Charlie's new fat-bomb invention is deep-fried cookie dough, which goes along nicely with the deep-fried cereal or SPAM. Also of note: Someone's bringing a giant two-pound beef rib on a 17-inch bone to the party, the ultimate food on a stick. Doors open on Friday at 3 PM, and the fair runs through September. Check the website for ticket prices and deals.
